The problems most offices treat as an afterthought, we take seriously.

Some dental problems do not fit neatly on a checkup list. Jaw pain that comes with morning headaches. A nighttime grind that keeps cracking your teeth. A tongue-tie you have carried since childhood without knowing it had a name. Most offices treat these as a quick add-on and send you home with a generic guard. Slobodian Dental works differently. Dr. Andrii Slobodian holds a Master's in Orofacial Pain from Rutgers, an ADA-recognized dental specialty, so jaw pain here gets a real diagnosis instead of a guess. He sees you himself at every visit, from the first exam to the treatment that fixes the cause. Because we are out of network, we take the time your case actually needs, and we tell you the truth about what will help and what will not. If you have been bounced from doctor to doctor and told it is just stress, this is a different kind of visit.

Why bring these problems here.

  • A real orofacial pain credential. Dr. Slobodian holds a Master's in Orofacial Pain from Rutgers, an ADA-recognized specialty most jaw-pain patients spend years trying to find. He diagnoses the cause, not just the symptom.
  • One doctor who can also rebuild the bite. Unlike pain-only centers that send you elsewhere for the dental work, the same doctor who treats your jaw can also do the crowns, occlusal work, and implants your case may need. Start to finish, one person.
  • A soft-tissue laser, used honestly. Our Er:YAG laser means many procedures happen without the drill, the shot, or the scalpel, and we only use it where it genuinely helps.
  • Care in your language. We speak English, Ukrainian, and Russian. Chronic pain and strange symptoms are hard enough to describe. It helps to explain them in your own language.
  • Comfort for anxious patients. Nervous about any of this? We go slow, explain first, and offer nitrous oxide or an oral sedative if you want it.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of doctor actually treats TMJ?

A dentist with specific training in orofacial pain, which became an ADA-recognized specialty in 2020. Dr. Slobodian holds a Master's in Orofacial Pain from Rutgers, so he is trained to tell muscle pain from joint pain from a bite problem, and treat the cause.

Why has no one been able to help my jaw pain?

Most doctors are not trained to diagnose orofacial pain, so they treat the symptom or call it stress. A specialist looks for the actual source. That is the difference many patients spend years searching for.

Will I need surgery for my TMJ?

Almost never. We treat conservatively first, with a splint, bite balancing, and simple at-home steps. Surgery is a last resort we rarely reach.

Can my headaches really come from my jaw?

Yes. Clenching and a strained jaw joint often cause morning headaches and temple tension. It is one of the most common things we untangle.

Is a custom night guard really worth it over a drugstore one?

For real grinding, yes. A custom hard-acrylic guard fits exactly, lasts years, and protects your teeth and any crowns, veneers, or implants. A drugstore guard wears out fast and can shift your bite.

Can a tongue-tie be fixed as an adult?

Yes, it is never too late. We release adult tongue-ties and lip-ties with a soft-tissue laser, usually in one visit, with no stitches and a quick recovery.

Does the laser frenectomy hurt?

Most patients need only a topical numbing. The laser means less bleeding, no stitches, and a fast recovery, often the same day.

Do you take insurance for TMJ or night guards?

We are out of network, which for TMJ is normal since insurance rarely covers it well. You pay one clear fee and we give you a detailed superbill to claim any partial reimbursement your plan allows.

Do you speak Ukrainian or Russian?

Yes. Dr. Slobodian speaks English, Ukrainian, and Russian, which helps a lot when you are trying to describe pain or strange symptoms.
